CO2 Transcritical Cycle System

A CO2 gas cooler, also known as a transcritical CO2 refrigeration system, is a type of cooling system that uses carbon dioxide (CO2) as the refrigerant instead of traditional refrigerants such as hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). CO2 gas coolers use a cycle that is similar to traditional refrigeration cycles, but with some modifications to accommodate the unique properties of CO2 as a refrigerant.

In a CO2 gas cooler system, CO2 is compressed to high pressure and then circulated through a heat exchanger, where it absorbs heat from the surrounding environment. The heat is then released outside of the system through a gas cooler, which cools the CO2 back down to its liquid state. The cooled liquid CO2 is then expanded, which causes it to rapidly cool, and it is circulated back through the heat exchanger to repeat the cycle.

CO2 gas coolers have become increasingly popular due to their low environmental impact compared to traditional refrigerants, as CO2 has a significantly lower global warming potential. They also have the potential to use waste heat for heating applications, making them more energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
