The main function of the air compressor intercooler is to cool the air before it enters the next stage of compression. Cold air is denser, making it easier to compress than hot air. Ideally, the air should be as close to the ambient air temperature as possible. Typically, intercoolers are capable of cooling compressed air within 20-30 degrees of ambient air temperature.
