A shell and tube evaporator is a typical heat exchange device which allows two liquids with different temperatures to exchange heat. Through the heat exchanger tank, one liquid can be cooled and the other can be heated to the desired temperature. The tube bundle collects a number of multiple groups of tubes containing a radiant core, externally fitted with a tubular tank shell made of high pressure vessel steel. The large combined surface area of the tubes will give effective heat exchange properties as the hot liquid or gas circulates through the bundle to transfer heat to the tank water and cool the fluid in the tubes.Common materials used for shell and tube evaporator:There are two different tube bundles: straight tubes and U-tubes.
